I returned to the Big Bend National Park , (S.W. Texas). In October 2017 and spent three weeks painting plein-air the places I could easily get to, including Boquillas, Mexico.

On the 20th of May I participated in the Mitchell Homestead Celebration 2017, south of Wamego, Kansas. A historic site thats fun to paint.

I participated in the 2017 STEMS plein-air event in Overland Park, Kansas. This ran from May 19th through June 1th.

2016 Exhibitions and Events
In mid-November I spent ten days painting and drawing plein-air pieces in the Big Bend National Park , (S.W. Texas). This included two kayacking, camping & painting solo outings, totaling six days in the wonderful, flooded canyons.

On the 18th of June I participated in the Mitchell Homestead Celebration 2016, south of Wamego, Kansas. A historic site thats fun to paint. I did two plein-air watercolors.
I sold copies of my book "An Open Road" in Frankfort, Kansas on Saturday the 21th of May 2016 when the Kansas White Way Car Run reached downtown Frankfort.
I participated in the 2016 STEMS plein-air event and AATC in Overland Park, Kansas from May 20th through June 5th. My pieces entered were "...and Scattered Showers" 2nd place oils & sold and "Three Day Weekend" 2nd place acrylics & sold.
I Participated in the 2016 Kansas Sampler Foundation Festival held this year, May 7th and 8th, in Winfield, Kansas. I was in one of the Kansas Products Tents, selling my art DVD "KANSAS as I found it", my books "Sketching the 1916 Midland Trail Across Kansas" and "An Open Road", unframed and framed oils and small watercolors.

I participated in the 2015 STEMS plein-air event in Overland Park, Kansas. This ran from May 22th through June 7th. I entered three of my small oils:

I was featured in an article about the Midland Trail highway in Highway 24 Magazine. The cover and a five page article hosted six of my pen and wash pieces illustrating Kansas scenes. Three additional pieces are shown in an advertisement for the Solomon Valley Highway 24 Heritage Alliance, on the last page of the article. In the article three paragraphs described my involvement.

the Watercolor Now! 2014 W.H.S. Small Works Exhibition. My piece hung in the Mabee Gallery at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. This event runs from August 18th through September 19th.

I have finally acted on the inquiries for an art book. It is a collection of quick studies of Kansas scenes with a historic motoring theme. "Sketching the 1916 Midland Trail Across Kansas: As I Found it a Century Later." 82 pages, 8.5 x 11 inches, H x W.

I participated again in the Smoky Hills Public Television "Signature Auction." This year the work was hanging in Great Bend, KS at the Shaffer Gallery and then was auctioned live on TV, April 12th & 13th, 2014.

Also I participated in the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery auction. this was held on March 1th, 2014 in the J. O. Sundstrom Conference Center, Lindsborg, KS.

I have revised my art DVD to now show 4 to 6 sketches and paintings for each of the 105 counties of Kansas. The DVD is renamed "Kansas as I Found It". I have several other slideshows now: "A Kansan Paints Yorkshire", "The Lincoln Series" and "Sketching The 1916 Midland Trail Across Kansas".

Demonstrated my outdoor watercolor painting technique at the 2013 Spirit of Kansas Art Fair in Wilson, Kansas. I did three pieces, donating them to the fund raising efforts for the Kansas Originals Gallery & Market.

I painted plein-air with a group from the Wetcanvas website. This Autumn Gathering from the Watercolor Forum collected about thirty painters in Kettlewell, Upper Wharfedale, North Yorkshire Dales, England.
